Recipes for Disaster

Received by: Email

T-N,

In your November issue your guest general of gastronomique, Alessandro Sweetmince, rated recipes sent in by readers. On the face of it this sounded like a good idea, a sort of try before you buy experience.  However, I like many will have been disappointed with his rating system devised from hand gestures:

Exquisite - OK sign
Very Good - Two thumbs up
Good - One thumb up
Poor - One finger down the throat
Very Poor - Two fingers down the throat
Dog Shit - Three fingers down the throat plus spewing

Dear Philippe,

On behalf of Alessandro, who is now back in Sicily, I can only say that this form of rating is very popular in Italy and the Isle of Dogs.  Could your disappointment stem from the fact that your Carrot, pulse and ginger stew for vegetarians was rated as dog shit? No wonder many vegetarians and vegans wander the streets looking pale and drawn, if this is the kind of steaming keek you dish up.

Recommendation: Get a life, get a burger!
